Song of the Month (Part 2.)
What the first thing do you remember about the 11th month of a year? Some say Sweet November, a romantic drama movie starred by Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron. Some other say November Rain, a phenomenal song performed by Guns N’ Roses.
Related to the wet season, I choose the epic rock ballad November Rain as an essay to be discussed. This composition is recognized as one of Guns N’ Roses longest songs ever recorded. Its music video was released in 1992, quickly became the most requested video and won Video Music Award for Best Cinematography on MTV. Also according to Wikipedia, as of November 2008 it has more than 26 million views on YouTube. What does November Rain video really look like?
Well, I’m pretty sure you won’t believe why Guns N’ Roses were an amazing band with definite artistic vision before watching this video. This song was arranged entirely by Axl Rose, co-founder of Guns N’ Roses and the sole remaining member from the original lineup. The video itself uses the full version of the song. Though never specifically confirmed by the band, many of Guns N’ Roses’ fans considered November Rain a part of an unofficial trilogy respectively with Don’t Cry, and Estranged music videos.
You know, the songs that we love the best are the ones that we possible to find intimate meaning in. The song doesn’t require to recall an explicit memory to do this. A visual element can be a medium to magnify the meaning even more. November Rain is one such video example.
